N.J. Thrift Shop Event to Feature 325 Designer Wedding Dresses
The Goodwill Retail Store in Pennsauken, N.J., (just coin’s throw over the Delaware from Philly) will be hosting its 5th Annual Valentine’s Bridal Sale Extravaganza on Feb. 9, running from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The sale will feature new and gently used wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl attire and mother-of-the-bride wear. New gowns from designers like Alfred Angelo, Nicole Miller and Maggie Sottero that retail anywhere from $199 to $4,000 will start at just $99. The gently used garments will start at $49, with no dresses being higher than $299.99.
Michael Shaw, chief operating officer for Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia, says the store will have 325 designer gowns in stock for this year’s event, up from 50 at the inaugural event.
“Last year, our first bride was in line by 3 a.m.,” Shaw told NJ.com. “By the time the doors opened at 9 a.m., the line to get into the sale was 150 brides deep. We’ve greeted brides from as far away as Long Beach Island and New York City, and savored the fact that Goodwill becomes etched in their wedding memories as the place where they found their dream gown.”
Proceeds from the event go to funding job training programs and career services for individuals with disabilities or disadvantages for competitive employment within the community.
Brides can get a sneak peak at some of the gowns that will be available at the Goodwill Facebook page, www.facebook.com/GoodwillNJ, during the week of Feb. 3.
